Where I teach: Classroom Reveal 2014 and SALE

As part of Teacher Week 2014, I'm sharing my classroom with all of y'all! :) Join in the fun and share your classroom pics. Link up over at Blog Hoppin'! Don't forget about TpT's big one day sale! Click here to shop :)

Here's where we store our Google Chrome Books. A friend gave me this great idea of buying two shoe shelves at Walmart and putting them together. Works great! :)

This is part of my Dollar Store Challenge with Teacher Created Resources. It's where I store all my CCRS lessons for the week. You can read more about it here.

These great book bins came from Steps to Literacy this summer :)

These dollar tree containers are IDEAL for storing task cards and it is so easy to organize them by skill

Aren't these mini pocket chart stands great? I found them at Wal Mart last year for $5 each! They came with an ABC sort activity, but they work so well for everything!

Last year I did away with my teacher desk, but I kinda missed it. I found my small group table becoming messier and messier so I added the desk back this year. :)

It's here! It's here! Teacher Week 2014

I LOVE Teacher Week! This year we decided on a 5 W's theme. How fun is that? Since today is "Who Monday" you'll be learning a little about me :)
The title of my blog may be Life in First Grade, but if you've been a long time follower, you know my teaching life is now in fifth grade. I made the move last year and couldn't be happier. While I loved teaching 1st grade, I feel I'm much better suited for older kids. I do miss the excitement 1st graders bring though. You have to work a lot harder to make 10 and 11 year olds excited about find the main idea of a story or determining whether a clause is independent or dependent :) :)
I only teach 5th grade reading, language arts, and spelling, which is wonderful! I'm an avid reader, so I get to spend all day doing just that! If I hadn't became an elementary school teacher, I would have gone into English and taught high school, so being able to teach grammar is also great! It's the best of both worlds!

I love color, which is why Lilly Pulitzer is one of my favorite designers. I love the classic black, white, and tan look, but it always looks so boring to me that I find myself reaching for the brightest thing I can find :)

I would love to be a fashion/beauty blogger in addition to a teacher blogger. I blog over at Southern Belle Inspired, but I usually the term "blog" loosely. I haven't posted in months, but it's always on my list! I am obsessed with fashion blogs. If I can ever make more time in my day, SBI will become a priority! For now, I will stick to occasionally posting a fashion pic on my instagram like these:

What else should you know about me? I own the sweetest, cutest, Maltese on the planet. Her name is Reese, named after my favorite actress, Reese Witherspoon.

I am a big TV watcher. Right now, I'm *obsessed* with Scandal. I discovered this on Netflix and cannot wait for season 4. Who else is in love with Fitz? And how gorgeous is Jake?! I didn't want to like him, but I do. I'm halfway thru season 3 and I don't want it to end!!

I recently purchased my first house (!) and I am loving decorating it :)

I'm also instagram obsessed, which is where most of these pictures came from. I do what I call #laeveryday2014, where I post one picture everyday for the entire year. It's fun looking back and remembering everything that's already happened this year!
