I've been lacking in blogging here lately and that's due to being absolutely swamped at work. I'm sure everyone is completely sick of all things Seuss, myself included! I never shared pictures from Dr. Seuss week, but to be honest, I was unusually bad about snapping pics this year. The only thing I captured were our Lorax and our Sneetches
I introduced a new center game this past week that my kids are BEGGING for every day now. It's not original, so I'm sure some of y'all know it. It's called SWAT.
The kids use the fly swatters to "swat" the word I call out. We use with our weekly words to know
These fly swatters are perfect for the game. I found them at the dollar store. Not the Dollar Tree, but the Dollar General store. They came in packs of 3.
Switching gears- Have y'all ever heard of the Primary Comprehension Toolkit? If not, google it now. Fabulous resource! I've been using it to help with nonfiction lessons. We created this chart from the toolkit and the kids were so engaged during the lesson.
Lastly, I have FINALLY uploaded the Questions of the Day for Unit 4 of the Scott Foresman Reading Street Series for First Grade. Sorry so late! Click here to download them :)
Love the swatters!

I love playing SWAT! I used this game a lot during my student teaching with math. I just had a poster laminated with numbers on it in a random order. I would say a simple math problem and they would swat the answer.Never thought of using it with words. I'm having a giveaway that ends tonight! Check it out at my blog and follow if you'd like :)
