Fun New Center Ideas

Are your kids getting restless? Mine are. I decided to create some "fun" centers that would help rejuvenate them. I've shared with y'all SWAT, and while this is still a favorite in our room, it needed a little spicing up. I made this mat/game board with a cheap dollar tree table coat and some clear packing tape and voila! A "new" center. It was a HUGE hit this morning. An added bonus: since you can't take the card if you swat it first, we kept score on the smart board using tally marks, which gave us extra practice on this math skill :)

I'm LOVIN' this next idea. I stole got it from teacher friend (hi Lana!) that teaches 6th grade. She used it for dictionary skills, which was fabulous. I decided to start it out in my classroom by using it for identifying story elements.

If you would like to create this center, I've uploaded the recording sheet and questions here as a FREEBIE!! :)
I know, it's the most creative title EVER right? haha If anyone has any suggestions on a new name, please feel free to comment and I'll change it. I don't have my heart set on "Roll and Answer" :)

And lastly, I'll leave y'all with a little preview of a new unit I'm working on for one of my most favorite stories of all time Eloise.

  4. I LOVE the use of those chip trays! I saw them at Target and knew I should have gotten them. I like your idea so much, I might need to sneak out after the kids go to bed and get them. Thanks!

  13. The Roll and Keep Game is super cute. Thanks for sharing. I put the questions in a clear plastic fruit and dip container I saw at a party over the weekend. My local grocery store gave me a few to use to sort our plastic coins as well. The lid helps me keep everything inside.
