We have had the best time with our author study on Kevin Henkes. The kids have LOVED all the characters, but I think their favorite has to be Lilly. Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse has become a favorite read in the independent/buddy reading center. I decided to come up with a little craft for this story when I stumbled upon this adorable character map from Sarah Cooley. I decided to
totally copy it word for word recreate it. Here's how it turned out:
Since we had a few extra minutes before car riders this afternoon, we decided to learn how to draw Lilly. We did this with the pigeon during our Mo Williems author study and it was a hit. I was a little worried that Lilly would be too hard to recreate and the kids might get frustrated, but they did such a great job! :) Love!
